Eastbourne via Beachy Head towards Seven Sisters
Spending a day at the Channel near Eastbourne, escaping to more scenic running routes than London can offer. Wind and rain. The weather forecast calls it “heavy drizzle”. Impressive.
Eastbourne is around 1,5 h (by train) away from London, and the cliffs at the Channel coast probably lure plenty of tourists. Not so if it is windy and raindrops shoot into one’s face. Anyway, the scenery was awesome, several shades of gray finally merging at the horizon.
After setting off at Eastbourne Station and following the coastline towards Beachy Head and Seven Sisters, I found out too late that I might as well have continued to Seaford in order to return from there. Nevertheless, the cliffs were impressive, withstanding the sea for some time just in order to crumble away (such as can be seen on an aerial view of the cliffs at Dover).
