Vetenskap och konst - Fyrverkeriorkestern 2012
Charming. Unbeatable. Inconceivable. So much to the concert at KTH in Stockholm on September 12, which featured a variety of enjoyable pieces and culminated in the overwhelming “Music for the Royal Fireworks” (G. F. Händel). A fantastic display of music and fireworks in the Borggården of KTH main campus in a chilly late summer night.
Musicians from six orchestras in Sweden cooperated in this meticulously prepared performance, thus filling the slogan of KTH with life – “Vetenskap och Konst”. Apart from the fireworks orchestra, the audience was spoiled with short pieces such as Americano, Star Wars, Tiger Rag, and also music from Leonhard Bernstein West Side Story. Fantastisk. What is admirable is the concerted efforts: KTHs Akademiska Kapell, Nacka Symphonic Band, PromenadOrqustern med baletten Paletten, Täby Blås, Upplands Brosextetten, and Vallentuna Blåsorkester.
It is also worth looking at the ancient description of the machine for the fireworks as part of the 1749 performance of the “Music for the Royal Fireworks”. Fyrverkeri på Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan. I wish to see this again.
